Alliance North – Public Benefit Flying Canada is a non-profit organization working to bring together the power of General Aviation to do good in communities! Public benefit flying is simply pilots volunteering their aircraft and time to “fly for good”.
Imagine a network of diverse partners and volunteer pilots coming together to maximize social benefits in our communities. Towards that goal – Alliance North is working to unite pilots, aviation groups, and public benefit organizations to more effectively be able to leverage GA resources to support local communities. This includes humanitarian needs, disaster response, animal welfare or environmental response — GA pilots are a valuable resource within communities.
Two great examples include partner organizations such as the Canadian Wings of Rescue and the Ontario Volunteer Emergency Air Corps.

Canadian Association for Girls in Science (CAGIS)
The Canadian Association for Girls In Science (CAGIS) is Canada’s largest and longest-running STEM (science, technology, trades, engineering, and math) club for girls and gender-diverse youth aged 7-17. This award-winning club, founded in 1992, supports interest in STEM with virtual programming and local clubs that visit labs, workshops, and field sites to meet mentors and do fun, hands-on activities.
CAGIS Chapters meet monthly to explore STEM with fun, interactive activities led by experts in a variety of STEM fields. Sessions take participants out of the classroom and into labs to do experiments, wind tunnels to test bridges, garages to tune up cars, and ponds to sample fish species
CAGIS Virtual brings STEM into participants’ homes with weekly, hands-on, live sessions led by experts and CAGIS educational staff. Participants log on to make crystals with a chemist, ice cream with a food engineer, flashlights with an electrician, and more.

Centennial College
The Centennial College School of Transportation is the largest publicly funded, on-site transportation training facility in Canada. We take pride in offering hands-on, industry-relevant training supported by state-of-the-art equipment and facilities.

Cygnet Aviation is a professional flight training academy based in Kingston Ontario. In partnership with CAE, Cygnet prepares graduates for direct entry positions with Canadian airlines in less than 2 years. Candidates do not need to have any previous flight training experience.

Island Air Flight School

Lola Reid Allin
Lola Reid Allin is a former Airline Transport Pilot who worked as a pilot for the Ontario Government and DeHavilland/Flight Safety, a Class I flight instructor, and the first female Chief Flying Instructor at Waterloo-Wellington Flight Centre. In addition, she is a professional SCUBA Dive Master and an award-winning photographer and author whose work has appeared in national and international publications, including National Post, National Geographic, Globe & Mail, Verge: Travel with Purpose, Toronto Star, Grapevine, and Santa Fe Centre for Photography.
She is an adventurer whose art and writing reflects the world vision of her experience. In addition to a three-year residency in Mexico, she’s explored more than 65 countries in depth — under water and on foot, and by dogsled, jeep, and camel.
To share her adventures & photographs, to provide a showcase for other photographers, and to inspire others to travel—she created the Armchair Traveller Travelogue in 2017. In addition to these personally narrated travel and adventure presentations, Lola does outreach presentations to promote the role of women in aviation/STEM careers.
Her memoir, HIGHWAY to the SKY: An Aviator’s Journey, was released Sept 2024 by She Writes Press/Simon & Schuster. Her professional associations include The Ninety-Nines International Organization of Women Pilots, Women in Aviation International, and The Writers’ Union of Canada.

Nieuport Aviation is the terminal partner at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Ornge
Ornge, a not-for-profit organization, co-ordinates all aspects of Ontario’s air ambulance system, the critical care land transport program, organ retrieval and the authorization of air and land ambulance transfers between hospitals. Ornge performs more than 21,000 patient related transports each year. Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport is used as a vital hub for Ornge, where approximately 4,000 medevac flights occur each year.

University Soaring Society
The University Soaring Society (USS) is Canada’s first student-led soaring society. With a passionate team of aviators at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) and a partnership with Toronto Soaring Club, students gain the skills and knowledge necessary to soar confidently in the skies. With hands-on simulator training, expert mentorship, and real in-flight experience, students have the ability to earn their government-issued Glider Pilot License. Youth Flight Canada (YFC) supports us by offering scholarships to help dedicated students cover training costs and experience the thrill of gliding. Our students are able to gain valuable skills; from aerodynamics to teamwork, leadership and communication that allow them to excel in the industry. With around 12% of Canadian glider pilots being female-identifying in 2018, the USS supports women in aviation with an aim to improve this statistic. Each year, we provide additional opportunities for females to become involved in the sport of soaring, inspiring the next generation of aviators. Learning to glide teaches individuals to read the sky, trust your skills and proves that in aviation, no engine means no limits.

Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre (WWFC)
Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre (WWFC) is one of Canada’s largest and most respected flight training schools. WWFC has a strong partnership with the University of Waterloo, providing flight training for its aviation programs. Beyond its university offerings, WWFC delivers industry-recognized training for general aviators, including an Airline Transport Pilot License Program (ATPL) and self-paced options.

Women in Aerospace Canada
Women in Aerospace Canada (WIA-Canada) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to expanding women’s opportunities for leadership and professional development as well as increasing their visibility in the aerospace community by creating a professional network in Canada and across the globe.
- Develop alliances with aerospace associations (provincially, federally, and internationally) and other relevant associations across Canada and globally.
- Identify, foster, and promote the interests and professional development of women working in the aerospace industry and other related sectors.
- To be a networking platform for all genders in the aerospace industry and other sector areas related to aerospace.

Women in Aviation – Upper Canada Chapter
The Upper Canada Chapter is part of Women in Aviation, International, an organization that is dedicated to the encouragement and advancement of women in all aviation career fields, and interests.
Our chapter is a registered non-profit organization in the province of Ontario, and are always looking for new and innovative ways to engage with our community. We host member exclusive events, as well as social activities where everyone is welcome. We also participate in Girls in Aviation Day; an annual, free event that includes aviation-based activities, static displays, guest speakers, and networking opportunities for young women.
